For the Web Accessibility Certificate Austria (WACA), Zensations was responsible not just for the technical build of the accessible website but for the entire branding. The task was to develop a distinctive corporate design that met accessibility principles such as colour contrast and optimal readability, including the logo design itself. Developing the corporate design together with the WACA project team and the Austrian Computer Society as the certification body laid the groundwork for the website, which was built on the Drupal 8 CMS using the Thunder publisher distribution.
The central requirement of the website was to communicate information about the certificate clearly, make getting in touch easy, and gradually add further features that would turn the platform into the central tool of the certification process. Content and underlying functionality had to strictly follow international W3C standards (WCAG 2.0 AA). Beyond active communication, the website also serves as a database for all certificates and related reports, creating one central point of contact. Interested parties can also see the status of each certified website, including error reports. The audit tool that auditors use to document and evaluate the websites under review plays an important role here, containing the sample previously defined and populated by auditors and applicants. WACA.at is therefore not just an information platform but a knowledge hub on digital accessibility in Austria, where website operators can find the information they need.
