The website of Österreichischer Bundesverlag Schulbuch (ÖBV) has been completely revamped thanks to a relaunch by the Vienna digital agency Zensations. The user-friendly site for teachers and pupils, which ensures optimal use of learning resources, has recently gone online. Technical implementation began last autumn, and the basic version, available since late April, is now continuously being updated with new features. The goal was to integrate a number of portals into the responsive website as effectively as possible. The main feature is the Lehrwerk-Online (textbook online) system, which provides around 40,000 digital supplementary content items for the publisher's products for pupils and teachers.
The webshop of the traditional Austrian publishing house represents a sophisticated e-commerce solution, implemented with Drupal 7 and integrating Drupal Commerce, offering cross-selling opportunities. The full-text search was optimised using a Solr search server. Internal publishing systems were connected, and there is also an interface integration for the Schulbuch Extra (SbX) platform. The “Testen und Fördern” (testing and fostering) portal can be accessed quickly and easily thanks to an SSO (Single Sign-On) function. Through an interface to the event server, teachers can find training events and register for them.
“Implementing our new website was an internal project that was with us for a long time. With Zensations, we found a partner who was, and is, up to the complexity of the task. Zensations particularly distinguished themselves through flexible reactions to new requirements, great dedication in implementing complex structures, and profound advice. The project is designed so that further steps are planned for the coming years. We look forward to the joint development and realisation,” says Mag. Alfred Schierer, Managing Director of Österreichischer Bundesverlag Schulbuch GmbH & Co. KG, enthusiastically. “The technical complexity made this project particularly interesting. The relaunch was extremely challenging to implement and, on the one hand, required extensive specialist knowledge, but on the other hand, also gave us the opportunity to learn a lot. Thanks to the very good and close collaboration between the teams, we succeeded not only in meeting the basic requirements but also in integrating features planned for a later stage,” summarises Zensations Managing Director Sabrina Hanneman.
