Zensations Implements Accessible Website for DisAbility Performance
Recognising the potential of people with disabilities as customers and employees, and supporting companies on their journey towards successful disability management. This is the mission of the Austrian consulting firm DisAbility Performance. To showcase its wide range of services for businesses, as well as the consulting firm's events and services, they enlisted the expertise of digital agency Zensations. Due to many years of experience in the field of web accessibility, Zensations was chosen as a partner for both implementation and ongoing consulting.
Visitors are sensitised through interaction directly on the landing page, with image excerpts in the header showing individuals whose physical limitations are not immediately apparent. Sabrina Hanneman, Managing Director of Zensations, explains: "Part of the content strategy was to focus on people and stimulate thought rather than to appear didactic. Accessibility is not an add-on or a niche topic; it's about positive usability and user experience, which affects everyone. It was important to us to illustrate diversity and the great potential that comes with it." Wolfgang Kowatsch, Partner & Co-founder of DisAbility Performance, expresses his enthusiasm: "Zensations provided outstanding support in developing our new website. We were impressed by Zensations' holistic approach and the high priority they placed on accessibility and user friendliness, which are crucial areas for us. We look forward to more exciting joint projects."
The website was implemented according to WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines, and during backend selection, full accessibility was naturally a key consideration, leading to the early choice of the Drupal 8 CMS. Alongside standards compliant implementation, intuitive website operation and clear content presentation were paramount. Accordingly, an Accessibility Toolbar with various settings is available. Font enlargement or information on keyboard navigation are now found on many websites, but for a large number of users, there is also a need for contrast settings that accommodate most eye conditions. This is particularly relevant for individuals who do not have the option to use their own pre configured devices.
